Brilliant Photo realistic Drawings in Ballpoint Pen by Samuel Silva

Samuel Silva was born in Portugal in 1983. His passion for art began at an early age, and he has been exploring his own creativity since he was old enough to hold a crayon. Silva woks in a variety of different mediums, such as pencil, pastel and paint, but his most celebrated pieces are his ballpoint pen drawings.
For most people, ballpoint pens are handy writing instruments. Most people write in either blue or black ballpoint pen, with red or green making the occasional appearance. For Samuel Silva, ballpoint pens represent a world of art and creativity just begging to be mastered. Using ballpoint pens from different manufacturers means that the ink inside the pen varies slightly in color, giving the artist a wider range of colors to work with. Laying dots and lines of color close to each other allows Silva to blend the colors and create texture. The smooth gradients and detailed textures in Samuel Silva’s ballpoint pen drawings are what add to the photo realistic nature of his art.
The fine tips of the ballpoint pens make it easier for Samuel Silva to create hair, fur and feathers than if he were to create these elements with a brush. The high level of detail in Silva’s art style adds to the quality of each art work, giving each photorealistic drawing a professional appeal. Paintings and pencil drawings in a photo realistic style are not common, but they are more widely available than photorealistic ballpoint pen drawings. This puts Silva’s art into a very select category and adds to the originality of his style.
