Too cool for school, the art of collecting
Bob Van Breda
Bob is a great artist, he began collecting all things pencil-related in 1981 (before I was born). Take a closer look on his collection, great vintage value and lots of cool stuff. The principle of Breda’s pencil collection, is sort of story of human imagination and the will to communicate.
Bob separated several easy-to-identify groups of pencil-related material: from chalk boxes to sharpeners, erasers and thousands of advertising pencils.
All collections gain value by telling a story, his collection is telling me a lot about my childhood school memories, and how that is fading away. In a modern world, full of Ipads and hi-tech gadgets, most of the todays kids have never sharpened a pencil in their lives, have you ever thought about that?
It’s a mistake to think that once you’re done with school you need never learn anything new.
